In the Garden

"In the Garden"
is the song that has been in my life since I was a child.

It was my grandmother's favorite
and it's the song I sang the night I accepted Christ.

There was no follow-up afterwards
and, like a baby taking its first step without help, I fell
and I remained in that fallen state for many years
until the LORD decided it was time
for me to return to the fold.

He even showed me where He wanted me
when I visited one of the churches in the area.
The night I was there, they had special singing.
One vocalist didn't say what she was going to be singing,
just that the person it was dedicated to wasn't there that night,
but that it had been laid on her heart to sing it anyway
and she sang--
